THE COSMETIC DENTISTRY PHILOSOPHY

Smile design, the way Sacramento patients ask for it.

Cosmetic dentistry done well is invisible. The result reads as a healthy, confident smile, not as work. Patients who travel to Mercado Dental Studio from East Sacramento, Midtown, Land Park, and the surrounding region tend to share a particular sensibility. They are not chasing a brighter shade or a wider arch. They want a smile that fits them, that holds up under different kinds of light, and that does not announce itself in photographs. That sensibility shapes every clinical choice in the studio.

The work begins long before any porcelain is bonded. A first consultation runs on the patient's schedule, not the chair's. Dr. Mercado photographs the smile under controlled studio lighting, captures video that shows lip dynamics during natural speech and laughter, and uses intraoral scanning to build a precise digital model of the existing teeth and gum architecture. From those inputs, a digital wax-up previews the proposed result. Most patients walk out of their first visit with a clear understanding of what their smile could look like, what each phase will involve, and a written investment range with no surprises.

Materials and craft.

The ceramics matter. Pressed lithium disilicate has a place in the studio for posterior crowns and bridges where strength leads the brief. For anterior smile design, hand-layered feldspathic porcelain remains the reference standard. Master ceramists in partner labs build each veneer in thin layers of porcelain that mimic the way light passes through real enamel, with internal characterization that reproduces the subtle variations a natural tooth shows along its length. The result reads as alive rather than uniform. Stark white tends to look manufactured under restaurant lighting and in candid photography, regardless of how clean it photographs in a clinical environment. We typically advise patients toward a shade that is one or two steps warmer than what they instinctively point to in a Hollywood-style reference photo, and we adjust during the wax-up phase before any tooth is touched.

Workflow that respects your time.

The studio runs a fee-for-service schedule, which means appointments are not double-booked, hygiene visits are not rushed, and consultations are not capped at fifteen minutes. Most cosmetic plans complete in two to three appointments over a span of a few weeks. Porcelain veneer cases typically require a preparation visit, a temporary phase that lets the patient try the new smile, and a final bonding appointment. KöR whitening is sequenced before veneers when natural teeth need to be brought up to a target shade. Invisalign is sequenced before veneers when alignment will let us conserve enamel. Implants are restored with hand-shaded ceramic crowns that integrate with the surrounding smile line rather than standing apart from it.

What patients should know about pricing.

Cosmetic dentistry is rarely a single line item. Most cases combine treatments and span weeks. The studio quotes each case in writing after the consultation so the patient sees the diagnostic work, the ceramic units, the bonding chair time, and the follow-up appointments broken out. Insurance rarely covers purely cosmetic work, so we are transparent about what is patient-pay and what may have a structural component a plan will partially cover. For larger cases we partner with CareCredit and Cherry to spread payment over twelve to twenty-four months, with zero-percent promotional plans available for qualified applicants. Five-star results, a Sacramento reputation.

Mercado Dental Studio sits at 4.9 stars across more than 350 Google reviews because the studio is built around the patient experience as much as the clinical work. Saharai handles billing, scheduling, and benefits verification with no opaque steps. Lisa, Courtney, Annie, Marcy, and Ashley make every hygiene appointment feel unhurried. Dr. Mercado handles the cosmetic work himself, every case, with the consistency that comes from keeping the practice deliberately small. Read patient reviews or view selected case photography. If you would like to see additional cases that match your specific goals, schedule a private consultation. Photographs of similar patients can be reviewed in person under appropriate clinical lighting.
